Asking vs Deserving

Kinda a messy sketch of something that happens in a novel i'm planning on writing.
Basically at one point, Dark Fire realizes there is no way he can win--ever. And without that one thing he was working toward, his life was and is quite literary pointless. He had a horrible past that tore him apart--and his house was falling apart.
So, he tried to position himself under some of the falling debris, but Blue Fire saved him, because she couldn't stand to see him /die/!

Sure, He asked to Die--but he deserved to live.
